JSP3 Anomaly Types Explained

Build a vocabulary, not a spoiler list

Japan Stigmatized Property 3 randomizes anomalies. Memorizing a fake fixed spawn order will fail you. Memorizing types will not. This page groups irregularities the Association expects you to notice on Sugiya Ryokan, Blue House, Kannonzaki Park, and Y Residence, then tells you how to verify them with standard vision, night vision (W), and—in co-op—thermal checks.

Pair this taxonomy with procedure pages: How to Report Anomalies for hold-click commitment and Night Vision Guide for mode locks.

Object and furniture anomalies

Chairs, doors, fixtures, and small props that move, vanish, or appear are the bread-and-butter class. Verification tip: compare against your last clean pass, not against a perfect imaginary room. Crooked-but-stable is Normal. Newly displaced is reportable. These are common false-report bait when players trust vibes over baselines—see False Reports.

Entity and intrusion anomalies

Human figures, silhouettes, and spiritual intrusions are high-priority visual events. Some are obvious on standard cameras; others hide until night vision. If an intrusion arrives with knocks or moans, escalate it under Dangerous Anomalies and clear it before you resume cataloguing chairs.

In co-op, thermal helps confirm heat-like body reads when partners disagree, especially across PC↔mobile cross-play where screen brightness differs.

Lighting and orb anomalies

Flicker faults, impossible illumination, and floating orbs often read differently across modes. Do a Normal pass and a W pass before you report. Outdoor cameras at Kannonzaki Park make lighting tells easier to miss if you refuse night vision. Indoor ryokan lamps create the opposite problem: players report every flicker without checking persistence.

Stain and residue anomalies

Blood-like wall stains and sudden residues are classic stigmatized-property tells. Confirm they are new. Confirm they survive a mode toggle if you are unsure whether you are seeing compression shadow. Do not spend your Hazard Pay false budget (three) on a stain that disappears because you misread paint.

Signal noise and feed interference

Video noise, distortion, and interference can be anomalies in their own right. They can also mask other anomalies. When a feed goes ugly, report the confirmed interference if it qualifies, then re-check the underlying room after the report resolves so a second event does not sit unreported toward the four-stack fail.

Mode-locked anomalies (critical subclass)

Across categories, some events are standard-only and some are night-vision-only. This subclass is why two-pass sweeps exist. If your personal meta is one mode, you will eventually die to the other. Mode locks are not rare trivia; they are core JSP3 design called out in the game’s own feature list.

Priority within types

When multiple types are live, prioritize:

  1. Dangerous audio-linked entities.
  2. Any anomaly that ages on a camera you visit rarely.
  3. Mode-locked events that require an extra toggle.
  4. Stable object displacement you already confirmed.

Your concurrent unreported cap is four. Types do not get equal time when the stack is high.

Property flavor without first-game confusion

Ryokan corridors emphasize depth and recursion. Blue House and Y Residence emphasize cluttered interior baselines. Kannonzaki Park emphasizes outdoor darkness and W honesty. None of this resurrects A邸 naming from the first game—keep your mental map on JSP3’s four sites only.

Practice method

In a Normal shift, narrate type aloud: object, entity, light, stain, noise, mode-lock. Narration slows panic and speeds later recognition. After the run, revisit misses in this page and in the Anomalies Hub. For full-night scheduling of when to study versus when to interrupt, use Survive Until Morning.

Taxonomy does not make anomalies kinder. It makes your reports faster and your false meter quieter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Japan Stigmatized Property 3 shifts.

What anomaly categories appear in JSP3?

Expect object/furniture changes, entity intrusions, lighting and orbs, stains/residues, and feed noise—plus mode-locked variants that appear only on standard or night vision.

How do I confirm an object anomaly?

Compare the feed to your last clean pass on that camera, check both vision modes, then hold-click report only if the change remains real.

Which anomaly type should I handle first?

Dangerous entities with knocks or moans first, then aging or mode-locked anomalies that threaten the four-concurrent miss fail.

Does co-op add new anomaly types?

The anomaly classes remain the same. Co-op adds a thermal camera that helps confirm certain disputed reads while you still use Normal and night vision.
